Obsidian-portable governance, cheaper than the incumbents.

Ledger turns your Obsidian vault into a governed, company-grade hub — with real two-way vault sync and an Obsidian community plugin — and prices at or below Hudu, well under IT Glue, and under Confluence's add-on stack. No 5-user minimum, no $545–$1,485 onboarding fee. Read-only portal users — for auditors and non-editors — are always free.

Two-way Obsidian folder sync (point Ledger at a real vault folder) works on every tier, including free and self-host — it stays on your machine. The shared org vault and the Obsidian plugin's push/pull are part of the cloud tier (Pro and up), which is where one company vault, roles, audit and SSO live.

Optional Discovery add-on: $8 / managed company / mo (network/asset discovery via the Lookout collector — undercuts Hudu Radar's $10).

How the math works out

5 editors, annualEffective floorPlus
Ledger Pro$1,500/yrObsidian-portable Markdown, governance + portals + AI included, no onboarding
IT Glue Basic$1,740/yr (5-user min)+ $545–$1,485 onboarding; data in a proprietary DB; AI gated to $44 tier
Hudu~$1,620–$1,800/yrdata still in a proprietary DB, not portable Markdown
Confluence + add-ons~$1,400–$2,000+/yrper-seat plus marketplace add-ons for diagrams/approvals; not Obsidian-native, not portable Markdown

Figures from public pricing as of 2026; verify current rates with each vendor.

Why Ledger: portable Markdown you can open in Obsidian and take with you, Obsidian-native wikilinks/frontmatter/backlinks, and company governance (roles, review/approval, read-only portals, audit) the incumbents charge more for or bolt on awkwardly.
